Entry #5 What are you really eating??

After watching the movie Fresh, I can say it has truly opened my eyes and mind more to think about what I am putting into my body and how the things I eat really have a big effect on my body. Most of the time (more like all the time) I just eat my food and I never really think about anything that goes into making my food or where it even came from, and I am pretty sure many people can relate to this. The purpose of the film Fresh is to inform us about the food industry. Showing all the bad, good and ugly about our food industry, opening our eyes to being aware of what really is put into our foods and the effects that it has on our bodies. The audience aimed at for this film is just about anyone who consumes food/drinks. So that is everyone!!!

The tone of the film Fresh is hopefulness because it gives their audience a call to action, to make a change and give them hope that things can get better if we all make an effort and are willing to change for the better. This type of tone impacts me personally by motivating me to create a positive change for myself and the people around me. It makes me want to take action by not shopping at Fry's, Sprouts, and wherever else I shop for my grocery's and start buying my grocery's at farmer markets.

The part that stood out to me the most throughout the whole film was that farmer's like the Foxes the chicken farmers, and how they were under a contract and how disconnected  and disengaged they were with what their chickens are being fed, injected with, etc. The fact that they were not allowed to show anybody the inside of the hens in which their chickens were at, and how if they were to show that on camera they could lose their whole farm is a scary thought to me. Since mostly everyone buys off of farmers like the Foxes, it is their foods that are being sold in super markets and that is where I buy my grocery's. I mean, what are they not showing us and why? Is it because it is because they are doing something they are not supposed to be doing?
This film definitely opened my eyes because it made me realize the importance of farming. It also made me realize that whatever those animals or plants are being injected with we later consume that too. It is like a cycle. My opinion on this film is that it is a great eye opener for people to realize that it is important to know what we consume, to be aware of what is going on in our food systems because it has a huge impact on everybody now especially for our future. The film most definitely matters because honestly without watching this film I would probably have never even thought about the importance to see where my food is coming from and what is in it. It is a very helpful and informational film that was made to make a positive change. It is very important for Americans to know about the issues regarding our food system, now that we have many opportunities to make a change for the better we should take them before it is too late to even fix the problems regarding our food system. Now that we aren't stuck, not being able to make a change. we should work together to make a change and switch back to how it used to be before all these big mass productions. The change starts now, it is up to you if you want to be apart of this good change.

Until next time my fellow bloggers! :)
