I am a big football fan but an even bigger Dallas Cowboys fan! I am their biggest fan... yeah I bet you hear that a lot from many other Dallas Cowboy fans but they're lying to you because I really am their number one fan! I grew up watching football because of my sister JoAnn and my Uncle Sergio. I remember growing up I would always get picked on because I was a girl who liked watching football and mainly because I was a Dallas Cowboys fan... and if you know anything about football you know that they are one of the most loved and hated teams in the NFL. Although nothing has changed from when I was younger to now, I still get picked on because I am a girl and a huge football fan. Many people would make fun of me telling me that I know nothing about the sport and I should just stop because football is not a girl's sport... but let me tell you I know almost everything there is to know about football and even more about the Dallas Cowboys all thanks to my sister JoAnn and Uncle Sergio, they have taught me everything I know about football and the Dallas Cowboys and they are the reason why I am such a huge fan.
The Dallas Cowboys are five-time Superbowl Champion's, unfortunately, I wasn't alive to experience them because I wasn't born yet but my sister and uncle were! Hearing their stories about their experience watching the games together makes me so happy and so anxious to want to experience not just watching any game with them but a Dallas Cowboys Superbowl game. Every year I always look forward to football season to watch my Dallas Cowboys play and hopefully be able to experience them going to the Superbowl but unfortunately every year they seem to let me down, but that still doesn't stop me from supporting and loving my team so much. Although, the Dallas Cowboys have come close to going to the Superbowl many times.
January 11, 2015, the Dallas Cowboys played against the Green Bay Packers in a divisional round. I was on my way to Texas with some family to visit my sister Brisenia and unfortunately I was not able to watch the game but I was on ESPN staying updated with the game and also updated through a group chat between my sister JoAnn and my Uncle Sergio, so I didn't miss a thing. Anyways, the game was intense and a very close one. The score was 21-26 with the Green Bay Packers leading the game. It was on a fourth down play from around the 30-yard line with only a few minutes left of the game, Tony Romo (one of the best quarterbacks and the only quarterback I knew for the Dallas Cowboys growing up) threw a pass to the sideline to Dez Bryant (one of the Dallas Cowboys best wide receivers) near the goal line. It was the famous controversial Dez Bryant catch. It was a catch. Instead, the officials ruled that Dez Bryant did not complete the process of the catch because he lost control when he hit the ground... but let me tell you, it was a CATCH! You can watch it yourself and you tell me that was not a catch. This famous "non-catch" is still not understood by fans or players. Anyways that was the game and our chance to getting closer to the Superbowl was crushed all because of this catch. My Uncle Sergio, my sister JoAnn and I were so heartbroken, I even cried the whole way to my sisters house in Texas and it was an 11-hour drive. I remember I got very sick when we arrived at my sisters house and I blame this game for that. On the bright side, the Green Bay Packers blew the NFC championship game against the Seattle Seahawks so they did not end up going to the Superbowl...because if not then my heart would have been broken into a million pieces and I would have never gotten over it (I am still not over this catch that was made by Dez Bryant that could've led us to win the game and on our way we would have been on the road to the Superbowl).
It's games like these that make the sport so much more interesting and that will have your heart racing with anticipation! I'm so thankful my Uncle Sergio and sister JoAnn taught me so much about the sport and the Dallas Cowboys but more blessed to have something to share with each other about something we all grew to love.
