Social media has a huge impact on today's world, many use it as a positive platform for spreading awareness of specific causes, some use it to connect with friends and family. While others... use social media to post about their daily lives including stuff we might not want to even know about. Yes come on, we all at least know that one person who literally post anything & EVERYTHING.
After listening to Progule & Act One: Finding the Self in Selfie, my first reactions were "yup, pretty much sums up today's social media world". It also made me realize how worried people are to be on social media, the need to stay updated with everyone and everything around them. Personally, I feel like what I share on social media is only what I want people to see, the positive aspects of my life and I see that most people are the same way. Although, the stuff we do share on social media and what we see our peers share revolutionizes the way we view ourselves and others. This resonates with me because sometimes I catch myself scrolling through my Instagram and commenting on my friend's selfies giving them compliments and they do the same when I post. I never actually thought about as an "if I comment on your post you HAVE to comment on my post too!" like the girls in the podcast of Act One: Finding the Self in Selfie was talking about. The way the girls talked about was like it was some kind of rude remark if I comment on your post and you don't comment back on my stuff. Honestly, I just comment on posts if I genuinely mean it not because it is something I feel I should do to return the favor to my friends/family. ![]() |
| Haha, this meme relates to many people. |
We post things mainly to share parts of us through social media and to see how people react to what we share. Our views may change if people dislike some certain things we might post or we see other people post and the feedback they get on it, we see and think okay well maybe I could post something similar or maybe it pushes us to not post certain things because we might get judged in a bad way. Either way, social media shouldn't make you change your views on things you might like and not want to share because others don't like. You don't have to follow what everyone else is doing and I see that on social media a lot nowadays. You can use social media to share those awesome interests and selfies! Also, you can use it to educate yourself and others.

Very organized post, i like it! While i don't have a social media, I do notice a lot of those traits in people (Friends in high school who were ALWAYS on their phones). I can see the appeal though, maybe just in moderation and avoid becoming "those" teens would be recommended to having a healthy social life
